We’re Glad You’re Here

Designed as motivational training for new Head Start staff.

‘We’re Glad You’re Here’ is a ½ day workshop designed for the new Head Start staff person.


What ‘We’re Glad You’re Here’ will provide:

  • A warm welcome to the world of Head Start, a realization that you really are glad they are here, glad they decided to work for your program.
  • An introduction to what Head Start is, and how it can be such an important experience in the life of the Head Start child and parent.
  • The discovery of how the Head Start staff person can truly make a difference in the life of a child that can last a lifetime.
  • The basics of ‘how I fit in’ to the overall picture as a new staff person.
  • Learning of the Cultural Adjustment Cycle, when work just becomes work, and it’s not fun any more.
  • The journey of keeping the balance between empowering and enabling the children and families in the Head Start program.
  • The importance of a positive attitude, and how it affects literally everything and everyone.
  • The value of becoming an employee that is ‘heads above the rest,’ not settling for minimal quality, but using the paradigm that meeting regulations is just the starting point to overall excellence.
  • Discovering what makes each new staff person the most excited about being a new Head Start staff person.
